Ten Little Niggers… Und dann gab’s keines mehr: Considerations on the Title Variations of Agatha Christie's Novel in English and German Editions

Abstract

The present study aims to provide an overview of the retitling cases of Agatha Christie's famous 1939 novel in its main English editions and related German translations. Starting from a linguistic-cultural perspective, the various denominations attributed to the text will be analysed according to the titological functions they have assumed in different eras and contexts.
