The practice of storytelling has been a fundamental aspect of human existence since the earliest days of humankind. When images are combined with narratives, that is called visual storytelling. This paper explores the evolution of children's storytelling abilities as they mature. The investigation is based on an experimental study involving primary school children. In particular, through the transition from a dynamic visual medium to a static one, it was observed how children modulate their approach in terms of narrative segmentation, identification of causal links and goals, and construction and maintenance of narrative coherence.
